After impressing during his first full season with the Academy, Michael signed a three-year professional contract in July 2006. He was still an Academy scholar when he became the Club's second youngest ever FA Cup player after making his senior debut against West Ham United in January 2006. Two more first team appearances towards the end of the season gave Norwich fans a glimpse of his talents. He looked confident and assured, despite playing in the slightly unfamiliar right-back position and he will be hoping for more senior opportunities this season. Michael is able to play in many roles, but probably prefers playing in central defence. He can also play in central midfield and it will be interesting to see which position he finally makes his own.
