Matthieu joined Norwich in a player-exchange deal which saw Gary Holt move to Nottingham Forest in July 2005. This pacy, accomplished right-back was hoping to make a big impact with his new employers when , after just two matches, he tore a hamstring muscle which kept him out of action for the rest of the season. This was a devastating blow for this popular Frenchman who had always played particularly well against the Canaries in the past. Hopefully he will complete his recovery to be ready for action during 2006-07.

French right-back Matthieu Louis-Jean joined the Canaries in July 2005 from Nottingham Forest in a swap deal, with Canary midfielder Gary Holt moving in the opposite direction to the City Ground.
An experienced defender, Matthieu racked up almost 200 League appearances during his six years at the City Ground and at the time of his departure was Forest's longest-serving player.
He initially joined Forest on loan from Le Havre, but soon impressed to earn himself a permanent switch across the Channel as Forest paid £500,000 for his services.
Matthieu immediately set about the task of making the Forest right-back berth his own and after becoming a consistent performer at the City Ground he became widely recognised as one of the most competent attacking full-backs outside of the Premiership.
He will find a trio of familiar faces when he arrives at the Canaries' Colney Training Centre in the shape of former Forest men Jim Brennan, Darren Ward and Darren Huckerby, and his arrival at Carrow Road will increase boss Nigel Worthington's defensive options during the 2005-06 season.
