A free transfer acquisition from Cardiff City in the summer of 2005, Peter was restricted to just eleven league starts for the Canaries as a combination of the form of Dean Ashton and injury prevented him from making the kind of impact he would have wished. A traditional style centre-forward, he relies on good service from the flanks to do what he does best - scoring goals, as his tally of 164 career goals would suggest. Competitive in the air and good with his back to goal he is a penalty area predator rather than the scorer of spectacular goals.

Peter Thorne became Nigel Worthington's third summer signing when he was unveiled as a Norwich City player on Friday, July 1, 2005, alongside fellow new boys Jason Jarrett and Matthieu Louis-Jean.
A vastly experienced striker, Peter began his career with Blackburn Rovers and took in a loan spell at Wigan before leaving Ewood Park for Swindon Town in January 1995. It was at the County Ground that he made his name as an excellent leader of the line with a fantastic eye for goal, notching 27 League goals from just 78 League games. An equally impressive haul of 65 goals in 157 League games for Stoke City followed and resulted in Cardiff City recording their club-record signing when they paid the Potters £1.75million for Peter's services in September 2001.
His time in South Wales was again a successful one, with 46 goals from his 126 League outings for the Bluebirds.
Standing at 6ft, Peter is more than useful in the air as well as on the deck, and with a goals-to-games ratio that any striker would rightly be proud of, his arrival at Carrow Road on a free transfer has been seen as a major coup by City boss Nigel Worthington.
Goals make heroes and with such an impressive track record, Peter Thorne looks set to be popular with all at Carrow Road.
