A big crowd favourite at Carrow Road with his non-stop running and chasing, Leon's absence from the Canaries' line-up for much of the season through a series of niggling ankle injuries did much to de-rail any hopes of a swift return to the Premiership. Powerfully built and with a direct style, Leon never allows defenders the time and space to settle. He has a good leap and likes to commit defenders by running at them with the ball and is always in and around the penalty area when chances are being created. His selfless style of play ensures that any striking partner playing with him will benefit from the errors he forces defenders into.

After marking his Canary debut with the two goals that handed the Canaries a memorable 2-0 derby day victory over arch-rivals Ipswich Town at Portman Road, Leon McKenzie's popularity at Carrow Road has continued to grow and grow.
A real all-action striker, Leon's passion for scoring goals has won him cult status amongst the Carrow Road faithful.
Few would believe that 18 months ago he was playing Second Division football with Peterborough United, such was the impression he made on the Barclays Premiership stage during 2004-05.
Together with Damien Francis, Darren Huckerby and Dean Ashton, Leon finished the season as the Canaries' joint-top scorer with seven goals.
Following the arrival of Ashton in January the two players soon formed a great understanding and it is that McKenzie, Huckerby, Ashton attack that so many Canary fans have high hopes for during the 2005-06 season.
